Be Prepared

Ed Macauley is a former Boston Celtics basketball player who scored 11,234 points in ten NBA seasons and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1960. His uniform number, 22, was retired by the Celtics. Three of his statements stand out.

1. "When you are not practicing, remember, someone somewhere is practicing, and when you meet him he will win."
2. "You always have to give 100 percent, because if you don't, someone, someplace, will give 100 percent and will beat you when you meet."
3. "Just remember that if you're not working at your game to the utmost of your ability, there will be someone out there somewhere with equal ability who is. And one day you'll play each other, and he'll have the advantage."

The message?

We must be prepared at all times. We must be prepared to give the game of life and business all we have.
